Agent picks — guide
Which AI app builder if you can't code yet?
Some links on this page may be affiliate links. If you buy through them we may earn a commission at no extra cost to you. It never changes our pick.
Short answer: start with the tool that matches what you're building, not the one with the loudest launch.
| If you want… | Start with | Watch out for |
|---|---|---|
| A live landing page or simple web MVP today | Lovable | Gets harder once you need custom backend logic |
| A quick throwaway prototype or demo | Bolt | Token cost grows with project size; auth and payments get fragile |
| To learn and keep control, all in the browser | Replit | Effort-based billing; the agent can be chaotic on big projects |
| Something you'll maintain and scale | Cursor or Claude Code | You need to read code when things break |
| A voice agent or voiceover for your app | ElevenLabs | Usage-based pricing; check the plan limits |
What builders actually report
One Reddit user's own analysis of 3,163 Reddit posts (not independently verified) put negative sentiment at 24.7% for Lovable, 38.7% for Bolt.new, 40.7% for Replit and 41.3% for v0 (source). The top complaints were unpredictable costs, credit consumption and difficulty scaling.
Our honest test
Build the same small idea in two tools before you pay. Then test what breaks: remove an API key, double-submit a form, and try to reach another user's data.
